There are a couple of ways you can be marked as hired on a job: a hire can be proposed from either side (by you or the homeowner), or when a homeowner accepts your quote.
Once marked as hired, either side can withdraw the hire by going to the 'Hired' tab on thejob, and click the 'Withdraw' button at teh bottom of the page, as shown below.
