Your reputation doesn't begin and end with the jobs you find through us - and we think your profile should reflect that. Open Reviews is a feature that lets homeowners leave a review for work you've completed outside of our platform, so you can build a fuller, more accurate picture of your track record in one place.
🌏 What is an Open Review?
An Open Review is = a review left by a homeowner for work you've completed outside of our platform - jobs with no lead or connection made through us.
The important distinction with Open Reviews is that, unlike our verified review types, we're not able to independently confirm the details of jobs that happened away from our platform. Verified reviews carry a higher level of trust because we can cross-reference them with actual jobs in our system.
See this article for more info on all the different review types we support: How can a client add a review to my profile?
🛠️ How Do Open Reviews Work?
👍 Sharing your review link
When Open Reviews is enabled, you'll have access to a unique link to your Open Review form. Share this with past or current clients however suits you - by text, email, or however you usually keep in touch. When a homeowner opens the form, they'll see a summary of your profile so they can confirm they're reviewing the right person before they begin.
The homeowner fills in some basic job information - trade category, location, and ratings across four areas (work quality, schedule, communication, and budget) - and can optionally add a job description, photos and any other comments about their experience.
If our system detects that their job matches an existing connection through us, it will suggest they leave a verified review instead.
💬 What happens after a review is submitted?
Once submitted, a review is 'pending' for 7 days before it appears publicly on your profile. This grace period allows for anything to be addressed if need be, before the review is published. You can fast-track the publication of a review by responding to it with a public comment.
⭐️ Where Do Open Reviews Appear?
Open Reviews appear on your profile within the 'Open and Direct Reviews' section, clearly labelled to distinguish them from your verified reviews. Your profile displays an average score for each review type separately, so homeowners can see at a glance how your ratings compare across the board.
You can manage your Open Reviews alongside all other review types in your Review Centre.
⏻ Turning Open Reviews On or Off
Open Reviews is turned on by default. If you'd prefer not to receive them, you can switch the feature off at any time - this will stop any new Open Reviews from being submitted. Reviews you've already received will remain on your profile as a public record.
You'll find the feature switch in the 'Review centre' under the tab for Direct and Open reviews.
