(If this isn't you, check out our Homeowner FAQs)
In this article, we look at how Builderscrack works in more detail.
You create your account
- You'll need some key business information
- Have your NZBN handy and documents to verify your identity and address.
- Subscribe to a plan
- Our team will verify your account using your business information and verification documents.
- Once verified, subscribe to a plan to access our full service.
- Build a winning profile
- Check your lead settings - ensure you have the right trades and locations. We use these details to send you relevant lead invites.
- Spend some time filling out your Profile - your Profile is the first impression potential clients have of you on Builderscrack. It should represent your business, what you do, your experience and what makes you better than the competition.
We advertise to homeowners
- Builderscrack is trusted by over 100k homeowners throughout NZ.
- Homeowners complete a simple form to give us the details of their job - there’s no cost for them to do this.
- Homeowners may also search our Trade Directory pages and contact a tradesperson via their public profile - this is a Direct Enquiry.
We match tradespeople to jobs
- When a job is posted, we match suitable tradespeople to the job and send out lead invites.
You 'chase' the jobs you're interested in
- Lead invites include essential details such as the trade, location, a description of the work and the token value of the connection.
- When you receive a lead invite you want to connect on, you 'chase' the job and we let the homeowner know you'd like to connect.
The homeowner decides who to connect with
- We let the homeowner know when you chase their job.
- They read through your profile and accept or decline your connection request.
- Homeowners can connect with a max of 3 tradies on their job at a time on their job.
Tokens are deducted if your connection is accepted
- If the homeowner accepts your request to connect, the token value of the lead invite is deducted from your token balance.
You and the homeowner discuss the job details
- Once connected, you can discuss the job details with the homeowner.
- You can message the homeowner using our 'interact' function. This ensures you have a digital record of what’s been agreed and discussed on a job.
- You can send a quote to the homeowner through Builderscrack.
- If providing a job cost rather than a quote is more appropriate, you can send this through Builderscrack.
- You’ll be notified if the homeowner accepts, queries or declines the quote or cost.
The homeowner awards the job to you
- If you and the homeowner are happy to progress, the homeowner can award the job to you.
- The award process secures you as the tradesperson.
- We’ll advise other tradespeople who have chased the job that it has been won by someone else.
- If the homeowner is happy to proceed but hasn’t awarded the job to you, you can claim the job.
Be sure to ask for a review
One of the advantages of our review system is that to post a review, the homeowner and tradesperson must have engaged on our platform. This means your competitors can’t post bad reviews and likewise your best mates can’t post glowing reviews.
- We'll remind the homeowner to give you a review - but it doesn't hurt to be proactive and remind the homeowner to review you.
- All reviews are ‘pending’ for 7 days before becoming visible to the public.
- If you have any questions on the review you’ve been given, this is the time to get in touch with the homeowner.
